Expert Guest Writers and Free Video Tips Coming

I wanted to devote this blog entry to let you know what's coming out in the next few weeks on Marketing Tips for Authors. I have lined up some great guest bloggers to share their marketing experiences with you. I have also lined up some professional marketers who work with authors to share their tips with you and to tell you some of the great services you have available to you as authors. None of the guest bloggers get paid, nor do I receive anything from them for their writings. They are here sharing with you at my request because I personally know they have a tremendous wealth of knowledge to share with you.

I also wanted to announce a new free service that I am offering to you. This week, I am launching a newsletter geared toward sharing free video tips that I am creating. Sometimes it's easier to show, than tell, and these videos will walk you through some of the technical things you may read about in my blog.

For example, this week's current tips (there are two), introduce Google Analytic and then show you how to add the Google Analytic code to your Blogger blog.

Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google to help you track visitors to your sites. But it is much more than a site counter. It will tell you things like where in the world people who visit your blog are coming from (which country, state, and even city). You can find out which links on the web they are clicking on to find your blog and which search engines and keywords they used to find your blog. How cool is that?

Once on your blog, Google Analytics will tell you how many page views the average visitor makes on your blog, how long they spend on your blog, and which pages they are viewing on your blog. You may be surprised that the number of comments a blog entry has does not always tell you which blog entry was visited the most. Google Analytics will tell you that.

The data is customizable by date range. So if you want to see how many people visited your blog today, yesterday, last week or from December 11th through January 14th, you can get that data with a few clicks of the mouse.

There is so much that Google Analytics can do to help you find marketing opportunities that we will only scratch the surface with this week's two videos. But other video tips will go into more detail on specific ways you can use Google Analytic features to help you better market your blog.

Other video tips in the works will teach you how to open, and use various sites on the social networks for marketing your book, how to do research on the web for your book, how to find other places to market your book, and just about anything that I can capture on the computer to share with you.

If you are reading this on my Marketing Tips For Authors blog, look at the first entry in the right column. The heading says: Sign Up For Free Video Tips. In trying to make things as simple as possible, click on the link under the heading to join the free newsletter and to receive weekly updates as to when and where the videos will be posted. When you sign up, you will be immediately sent an e-mail with the link to the current weekly tips.

Just a note: Watch the tips each week. My plan is to change them out every Monday and not to archive them. And make sure you pay attention to the web site I have the tips posted on. I will include supplemental information to go along with the videos. For example, on the current video tips page, I have links to Google Analytics, G-mail, and Blogger so you can have everything you need to recreate the tips in those videos.

If you have questions or suggestions for future video tips, please leave a comment or respond to the newsletters you receive. They come strait to me (At least until my list grows to 100,000 plus subscribers).

March is going to be an exciting time for Marketing Tips For Authors, and I hope for you too. And I can't think of a better way to end it than attending the workshop on Marketing for Authors that I am conducting on behalf of the Writer's Guild of Texas. It's Saturday, March 28th from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Richardson Public Library. Click on the follow link for an announcement with all the pertinent details.

Again, if you find this blog useful and you like the idea of having access to free video tips, I would appreciate it more than you will know if you can link to this blog are share it with other writers you know.

What people are saying about our free marketing video tips

Let me just tell you... Your archive tip on linking a photo to another page where people can buy your book was so incredibly helpful and amazingly clear that you now have a real fan. SO smart to take away the fear that so many have of HTML. I followed it to the letter and posted a link on my blog today. Have a look. It's all because of you.
