Anatomy of an Information Product Launch By Phyllis Zimbler Miller- Book Review

Yesterday, author and book marketing expert Phyllis Zimbler Miller made a stop on her blog tour here with an article entitled, Effective Internet Marketing Helps Avoid Missed Opportunities. The blog tour is to promote her new Miller Mosaic Internet Marketing Program and her new e-book, Anatomy of an Information Product Launch: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE LAUNCH OF AN ONLINE INFORMATION PRODUCT. Today, I am going to review her e-book, a unique tool for any person with a digital product to launch.

Before we get to the book review, here are a couple of quick in-house announcements:

Now, on to the review...

Many people get the idea that they want to sell an e-book or another product on the internet. They create a product and then look around for a way to distribute it. The whole process is sort of a "learn as you go" deal. By the time the product has been out a while, they realize that there are things they should have done, or wished they had done along the way. They build the product, but no one came to buy it. The experience is not what they envisioned when they had the idea to create the e-book.

Why? Quite simply they did not "launch" their product. They sort of put it out there and wished for the best. Enter, Anatomy of an Information Product Launch: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE LAUNCH OF AN ONLINE INFORMATION PRODUCT. Phyllis Zimbler Miller shares her experience with us as she and Yael Miller, Chief Technology Officer for Miller Mosaic, document the actual process they went through when they launched their new membership site. This is the closest thing to looking over the shoulders of experts as you see how to do a proper product launch.

The book is written in chronological order, detailing what problems, tasks, and goals Phyllis had each day of the 30 day launch period. She does more than give you a checklist of items to mark off for your launch. She actually takes you into her thought process when she makes decisions on how to proceed. For example, she gives insight on how she created the ad copy for her product. She also walks you through the decision process she went through when she decided on what price to offer the membership during the first month.

Using this process of explaining her thoughts throughout the book, the reader gains valuable insights on decisions he or she will need to make as they prepare to launch their own product, insights that they may never of had the opportunity to appreciate if not exposed to this e-book.

But Phyllis also shares with you the valuable lessons of testing your launch process ahead of time so that there are no snafus when the product is launched. She shows you how she tested the customer experience and knew exactly what each customer would experience when purchasing her membership. By taking the time to test, she found some issues that simply would not be acceptable from a customer service standpoint. By testing, she was able to correct this, save her customers frustration, and herself a lot of time and frustration in fixing the issue after the launch. If you learn this lesson alone, it's worth the price of the book!

There is so much involved in a product launch that people just can not know unless they experience it. I know; as a Director of Marketing for a company that created online video training products, it fell to me to manage our monthly product launches. With Anatomy of an Information Product Launch, you gain the benefit of "experiencing" a launch before you have to go through your own.

Whether this is your first launch or you have others under your belt that have been lackluster at best, Anatomy of an Information Product Launch: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE LAUNCH OF AN ONLINE INFORMATION PRODUCT is a unique marketing tool that can help you navigate your next launch and help you think about the things you need to be thinking about. You'll be glad you have this tool to consult the next time you create a digital product to sell.
