Trust is an important element in promotion and giving people something without expecting them to pay for it all the time helps to build that trust. Although I&#39;ve written a few film scripts and plays, I have not yet published a book. I&#39;m writing a novel right now and getting astute feedback from my writing group. However, what I have done to begin building my platform is to create a website (Valerie Stasik&#39;s Pen Central ) that provides lots of resources for writers, many of them free. I also have a blog at the site which focuses on writing, marketing and publishing (The Sequill . I send out post alerts via Mail Chimp each time I update (usually once a week)to 72 people to date. I see that developing into a brief newsletter. I hope by the time my novel is ready for publication, I will be reaching many more people. (The website stats show several hundred visitors to the site.)<br /><br />By the way, Tony&#39;s site is one of the resources I promote on my website.
