The moment author masters one domain or skill several new technologies or sites pop-up. You are absolutely right that authors don't have to, and should not, devote significant time to online activities-their time is best spent on what they do well-writing books.
Because of these technological challenges, I decided to build something for authors that can make their job more productive. I am a co-founder of Zeeen.com a software company that provides authors with free technology platform to self-publish and promote. Authors sign for a free landing page, sort of a book microsite. That site already has a number of useful technology tools built in that enable author to target and build their audience before their book is published. We constantly upgrade and update the platform with the latest technologies and authors can simply add or remove those they want with a click of a button. They do not require expertise in technology, social media, or self-promotional strategies and tools.

Zeeen will be featured as one of the latest free platforms for authors in the next update of 40+ Free Tools for Authors, at Self Publishing Review www.selfpublishingreview.com. In the meantime I thought your readers may enjoy this current list http://www.selfpublishingreview.com/blog/2011/06/40-free-tools-for-authors

Hi...Your post really got me thinking man..... an ...

Hi...Your post really got me thinking man..... an intelligent piece, I must say.

For adult fiction this is the case.
